The Universal Reading Foundation invites Warsaw residents to a unique literary walk in the series "Close to Words, Close to Each Other." This free cultural event, funded by the City of Warsaw, is an ideal opportunity to actively spend time outdoors. This time, we'll head to Ursynów, following the books of Katarzyna Puzyńska.

The walk is left:
On Saturday, September 5th at 3:00 PM, we invite you to a unique, intergenerational literary walk in the footsteps of Katarzyna Puzyńska's crime stories and characters, such as "Dzielnica Cieni" (Shadow District) and "Ulice Ciem" (Streets of Shadows). Together with the author and Warsaw guide Klaudia Mróz, we will travel back to the pre-metro days of Ursynów and discover little-known, mysterious corners that hide fascinating stories. The walk will begin at the Ursynów Metro station, on the side of the "musical" streets. Our route will include unusual literary and sentimental landmarks.
The walking route will include, among others:
- block at Puszczyka 3,
- the famous Kopa Cwila,
- Library No. 109 at Koński Jar,
- haunted building at Herbsta 4
A walk provides an ideal opportunity to practice mindfulness, neighborhood integration, and active reading of urban spaces.

Katarzyna Puzyńska and Klaudia Mróz
Katarzyna Puzyńska is the author of widely read cross-genre books, blending crime fiction, fantasy, horror, and non-fiction. A psychologist by training and a former university teacher, she has dedicated herself fully to writing. She is a winner of the "Police in Literature" award, a juror of crime fiction competitions, and a vegan who received the VEGE magazine Grand Prix. Her childhood is inextricably linked to Ursynów, which has often served as the backdrop for the dark events in her novels.
Klaudia Mróz is a licensed tour guide for Warsaw and the Royal Castle, a Polish language teacher, and a Varsavianist. She passionately explores the hidden stories in the city's nooks and crannies, organizing events with Warsaw as a backdrop. As the founder of the "Idzie.my – z książka przez Warszawę" (We're Going – with a Book Through Warsaw) project, she shares her love of the capital online, earning her the title of E-creator in the Warszawiaki 2025 poll. She is also a spatial education trainer and a certified eduScrum Master.
Literary inspiration: "The Shadow District""
Warsaw 1968. The removal of the Dziady production from the bill triggers a wave of horrific events and forces thousands of people to flee the country. March is an exceptionally difficult month in the capital. And in one of the apartment blocks, matters become even more complicated. An eleven-year-old girl is murdered.
„"The Shadow District" is a blend of a classic locked room mystery, a challenging noir crime story, a bloody thriller, and a time travel to another difficult period in Polish history. It's the second magical story about the magic of books, following "Streets of Moths.".
