I Read, Therefore I Think, Act, and Am a Citizen!
A free online course for anyone who would like to strengthen their resistance to disinformation: themselves, their loved ones, and their team in an institution, school, or company.
Course I read, therefore I think, I act, and I am a citizen! – civic education through reading and critical thinking It was created to help teachers, educators, and others more effectively respond to the challenges facing modern schools. Its goal is to strengthen participants' competencies in building resilience to disinformation and developing critical, independent thinking in young people. It aims to support teachers in creating an environment that helps students safely and responsibly navigate the information landscape—from their first language games to mature, civic decisions.
Why is it worth participating?
By taking part in the course you will learn, among others:
- mechanisms manipulation, linguistic disinformation strategies and tools that strengthen critical reception of content - a necessary basis for conscious use of the media.
- practical working methods, that develop students' critical thinking and civic agency.
- ready-to-use teaching techniques — from critical reading, through debates, to working with text and digital tools — can be used in every subject: from biology and physics, through physical education, to Polish language.
- ways of engaging parents and supporting students with special reading needs.
You will also learn how to create an environment that supports critical thinking and resistance to fake news, how to build a culture of dialogue and reading, how to involve parents and local institutions, and how to design activities that strengthen students' civic competences – from preschool to secondary school.
Who is the course for?
Course I Read, Therefore I Think, Act, and Am a Citizen! is aimed at teachers, educators, tutors, students, parents and all those who want to strengthen their critical thinking skills and better navigate the jungle of information and fake news.
In what form does it take place?
The course is conducted on an educational platform Navoica.pl in the form of video mini-lessons and online self-study modules.
How long does it last?
