In the footsteps of the architecture and criminal mysteries of Śródmieście
On Saturday, July 11th, we will take you to Warsaw's downtown, where we will combine an architectural reading of the urban fabric with fascinating crime stories and puzzle-solving. The main theme will be the history of the capital's buildings and the captivating book "Koszykowa 55.".
This unique one guided walk will lead Radosław Gajda – a respected architect, art promoter, creator of a popular YouTube channel, and winner of the prestigious title of Varsovian of the Year 2023. Together we will learn urban mindfulness.
Walking route with Radosław Gajda:
- Start of the walk (11:00): Exit from the Politechnika metro station (intersection of Waryńskiego and Nowowiejska streets).
- Art of MDM: The apartment building at 9 Waryńskiego Street and the self-referential sculpture "Opening of MDM".
- Constitution Square: An icon of post-war architecture in Warsaw.
- Secrets of downtown tenement houses: Entrance to the hidden courtyard at the back of the Koszykowa 53 building.
- Faculty of Architecture, Warsaw University of Technology: The building at 55 Koszykowa Street.
- Pre-war elegance: A walk along charming Lwowska Street.
- End of the route: Politechniki Square – the ceremonial culmination of the walk at the entrance to the impressive Large Aula of the Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology.
Join us and discover interesting places in Warsaw from a completely different perspective! This is a wonderful opportunity to build neighborly bonds and "read" together the stories recorded in our capital's historic buildings.
The walk will be led by Radosław Gajda
Radosław Gajda is a renowned architect, lecturer, YouTuber, and winner of the 2023 Warsaw Inhabitant of the Year award. He has taught history of architecture and art at institutions including the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology and the European Academy of Arts. After retiring from academia, he successfully launched the popular architecture program GOOD IDEA on YouTube. He is the co-author of the bestseller "Archistorie" and the author of the captivating architectural crime novel "Koszykowa 55." He has published numerous academic articles. For his outstanding work promoting architecture, he was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland. During his Warsaw walk, he will combine an architectural exploration of the city and its details with fascinating crime stories.

When Paweł begins his dream architecture studies, he anticipates lectures, parties, and perhaps first dates. Meanwhile, a crime rocks the faculty at Koszykowa 55, and he—in an unlucky twist of fate—finds himself at the center of an investigation. In the process, he uncovers deeply hidden secrets of the university. Will he find the murderer? A gripping plot, historic walls, and Warsaw 20 years ago.
