On March 22 and 23, Warsaw will become the Polish capital of illustrated books for the fourth time. The Mały Koneser festival and fair of children's and youth publishing will feature 22 exceptional publishers who together create an ambitious children's literature scene in Poland. This year, the event returns to the Centrum Praskie Koneser!
Reading should be, above all, a joy! A chance to discover the unknown, to search for what interests us, for a crazy adventure and simply good fun. Books by publishers who create Mały Koneser make reading a pleasure and an aesthetic experience, and children cannot tear themselves away from reading.
The great success of the Little Connoisseur
Mały Koneser integrates the community, creates a space for the exchange of experiences, inspires new projects and cooperation, and above all - meets the needs of young readers. This is a new, proven type of book fair, where the most important thing is the comfort of readers and publishers. The intimate, family-friendly and illustrated book lovers' event is the best opportunity to get to know carefully prepared publications from experienced publishing houses, which take care of every detail of the books they publish. It is a space for free conversation, inspiration and simply time well spent.
Mały Koneser is a place where you will meet ambitious, brave and sensitive owners of small and medium-sized publishing houses, who care about both the editorial craft and the mastery of illustrations and text. At Mały Koneser we will meet the following publishing houses: Albus, Babaryba, Beech, Second-Leg, Two Sisters, Entliczek, Aesop, Format, Hocus Pocus, Culture of Anger, Libra, Typo, Mamania, Toadstool, Arctic Fox, Pearl Divers, Powergraph, So, Sweet flag, Horizon, Plant and Nooks and crannies. On site, you will be able to get new releases and beloved classics. Books that expand knowledge about the world and captivate young and old stories.
Literary stars in Warsaw
The Little Connoisseur is an opportunity to meet your favorite authors and esteemed illustrators. They will lead workshops, be guests at meetings and sign your copies. The guests of the Little Connoisseur include: Iwona Chmielewska, Emilia Dziubak, Aleksandra and Daniel Mizieliński, Tomasz Samojlik, Józef Wilkoń, Piotr Socha, Agata Dudek and Małgorzata Nowak, Jacek Ambrożewski, Katarzyna Walentynowicz, Bolesław Chromry, Maria Strzelecka, Rafał Kosik. They will also come to us Emma Adbage from Sweden and Simona Smatana from Slovakia.
During the festival, you will be able to see an exhibition of Maria Strzelecka's works from the book Come on. Beskid without bullshit awarded the Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw.
International conference Eye on the World
The fourth edition of Mały Koneser is not only a fair and a festival of children's and youth publishing houses - it is also a nationwide conference and a trade day organized jointly by the publishing houses Wytwórnia, Tatarak and Widnokrąg in cooperation with the National Library. The program addressed to teachers, librarians and professionals dealing with children's and youth literature on a daily basis includes debates and workshops on methods of working with picture books, inspiring ideas from Italy and Belgium and a screening of a film about reading education. The conference will take place on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the National Library.
