2023 was a special year in the life of the Foundation!
First of all, it was a jubilee year – for 5 years now we have been carrying out the mission of popularizing reading in Poland. The last 12 months have brought many challenges, but also satisfaction from implementing projects.
In its activities, the Foundation focused on several areas.
The first was to support the development of children as the youngest current and future readers. The future of our society depends on the education of the next generations.
The FPC activity also focused on supporting parents in their educational mission, including the need and necessity of reading.
As always, the Foundation worked to build community and educate leaders, targeting various stakeholder groups.
For the first time this year, FPC inspired an exchange of ideas – taking up an important debate on the relationship between reading and democracy – in the context of developing informed, healthy and responsible societies. It was also a step towards building cooperation, undertaking activities on an international scale among European organizations with a similar mission.
With last year’s assumptions in mind, the Universal Reading Foundation:
– implemented a campaign aimed at parents – #TataTeżCzyta, taking up the topic of reading among men in another publication from the #SupermocKsiążek series
– launched an innovative training program for doctors, combining the topics of reading and health as part of a new edition of the #KsiążkaNaReceptę program
– continued to counteract reading exclusion by distributing books to those who do not have them, as part of the #KsiążkaChroni programme
– launched another edition of the #RatownicyCzytelnictwa campaign under the slogan Discovering New Lands
– activated the youngest, taking care of their development, during reading meetings in the #CzytanieRządzi o Poranku series, in which over 500 participants took part
– organized the international conference #LiteracyFOrDemocracy on the impact of reading on democracy: in 3 languages, with the participation of speakers from 5 countries, including with the support of the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda.
– involved the art world in promoting reading during the charity auction “Art Against Exclusion”. 16 days of art were auctioned, and the proceeds were donated to the implementation of the #KsiążkaChroni project.
– in the Christmas campaign, we managed to unleash the superpower of good – by collecting funds to support children excluded from book culture (#UwolnijSupermocDobra).
– conducted international activities – FPC became a member of the EURead organisation.
The next year will also be a year of many challenges and new projects.
We would like to thank everyone who supports our activities and is with us.
In the New Year we wish you prosperity and many successes, not only, but above all – in reading!
