On November 13, 2024, the Conference "For health... Read!" will be held in Zabrze for representatives of local authorities, touching on the essence of reading and its impact on the development of society. Lectures will be given by professors and specialists: Jagoda Cieszyńska-Rożek, Katarzyna Konopka, Marek Kaczmarzyk, Wanda Matras-Mastalerz, Robert Piaskowski.

Speakers:
Cieszyńska Berry-Cone
Prof. dr hab., psychologist and speech therapist, works at the Department of Speech Therapy and Developmental Disorders at the Pedagogical University of Krakow and is the substantive director of the Krakow Method Center. Her research interests include autism, dyslexia, bilingualism and multilingualism, and the development of the language system of children with communication disorders. She is the creator of Simultaneous-Sequential Reading Instruction, used in kindergartens, schools and clinics in Poland and at the International CSI School in Lyon.
Catherine Konopka
Publisher, marketer, expert in popularizing reading, graduate of journalism, publisher, marketer. She worked in the marketing departments of Znak and Egmont publishing houses. For several years she supported Polonia by working at the Consulate General in New York. As a publisher, she was responsible for children's books at the Słowne publishing house. Member of the Board and project manager of the Powszechnego Czytania Foundation.
Marek Kaczmarzyk
Professor at the University of Silesia, biologist, neurodidacticist and memeticist, teacher, lecturer, author of articles and books on biological and memetic contexts of education. Specialist in the evolutionary, neurobiological and memetic basis of learning, teaching and upbringing processes.
Wanda Matras-Mastalerz
Doctor of Humanities, President of the Board of the Polish Bibliotherapeutic Society in Wrocław, Head of the Book Research Team at the Media Research Center of the Pedagogical University of Kraków, Head of courses in bibliotherapy and fairy tale therapy. Author of publications on the therapeutic function of books, bibliotherapy, working with students with special educational needs, mental work techniques, and media and reading education.
Robert Piaskowski
Director of the National Centre for Culture, Polish philologist, sociologist, manager and academic lecturer, involved in the development of culture in Kraków. As the mayor's plenipotentiary for culture and director for development in the Department of Culture, he coordinated the Film Music Festival, Misteria Paschalia, Opera Rara and others. He supervised the city's literary policy, co-created the Kraków UNESCO City of Literature programme and the Kraków Culture strategy.
