There are children who will never get a book for Christmas.
Hania is almost six years old. Recently, while walking past a bookstore with her mother, she spotted a book in the window – the same one the teacher read to them in preschool. The little girl longs to revisit that story and the little heroine she grew so fond of. But even though she's young, she already understands a lot and knows that her mother doesn't have the money to buy the book. There are more important things.
There are many children like Hania. Some of them don't have a single book of their own. What does this mean? No bedtime stories. No heroes to inspire them. No stories to offer refuge when reality overwhelms.
There is no chance for a better future because their wings are clipped from the very beginning.

Why own a book?
A book isn't just paper. It's a friend that stays with a child forever. A library provides access, but a book of your own builds a bond and a sense of security. Favorite stories and beloved characters are like a teddy bear you can always cuddle. It's difficult to build such an emotional bond with a book that's only around for a moment.
A favorite book can also be a welcome escape and refuge when reality becomes too much to bear. Studies show that stress levels drop by as much as 68% in the first six minutes of reading.
By helping with us, you support children in:
- development
- science
- building relationships
- dealing with emotions
- discovering the joy of reading
Today, along with the book, you can give your child:
- favorite story
- a new chapter of childhood
- equal opportunities

Who are you helping with?
For seven years, the Universal Reading Foundation has been uniting individuals, institutions, and companies in the fight against reading exclusion. Together, we foster an appetite for reading among young children and others. We provide tools, substantive support, and training to teachers, librarians, and doctors who, like us, recognize the beneficial effects of reading on the development and mental health of children. We effectively demonstrate that reading develops, equalizes educational opportunities, fosters collaboration and relationships, as well as civic awareness, innovation, and social integration. Thanks to donors and partners, we have already delivered over 300,000 books to those in need.
By working together, we can do more.
