Reading Poland. Multi-sector workshops in Poznań

On 27-28 November, another meeting and accompanying workshops of the Reading Poland coalition took place in Poznań. The coalition works to promote Polish reading and reading within the framework of multi-sectoral cooperation.

Nearly 40 organizations work together to co-create change. Coalition members meet regularly in cities across Poland, emphasizing the importance of multilateral cooperation and collective influence. A profound change in the functioning of reading is needed to make it a key tool for achieving private, social and public goals, an element of health, building success, agency, innovation, social activity and democracy.

Reading is a common cause. It is extremely important to join the initiative of people, institutions, organizations, smaller companies and large businesses. Once again, librarians, educators, publishers, distributors, leaders met - in a wide group!

Key areas were discussed at five thematic tables:

  • What should the Reading Commune be like if it were to be standardized?
  • how to implement the vision of the Reading School that we have already described (Reading School)
  • methodologies for inviting businesses to become Reading Companies – for their own benefit and employee development.
  • ideas for growing Reading Poland into a nationwide network of influence – building partnerships
  • supplementing the areas of activity of the current National Reading Development Programme – new ideas and directions of development

The diverse group of participants included:

  • libraries and education,
  • publishers and distributors,
  • non-governmental organizations,
  • large and small institutions.
  • business.

Such broad cooperation, combining the interests of many parties, allows for real, profound changes and the achievement of a common goal.
