How to do it properly and effectively to see a change in the student&#039;s attitude, way of thinking and action? Does the Polish school have the tools and opportunities to promote and implement &quot;reading for pleasure&quot; among students? Or maybe it is only the parents&#039; responsibility?<\/header>\n<p>The question also arises, how do you encourage students to read abroad and are the changes introduced sustainable and effective? What should we pay attention to? What should we not forget when implementing this method in a Polish school? What is \u201cguided reading\u201d and how to implement it in school work?<\/p>\n<p>We will talk about all this during the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date: November 8, 10:00 a.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, experts will present:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">results of research on reading among children in Great Britain,<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">real benefits of \u201creading for pleasure\u201d among Polish children,<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">text-based reading teaching methods \u2013 an alternative to the analytical-synthetic method dominant in Polish schools, available to students with diverse educational needs and developing motivation to read at school and throughout life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ibe.edu.pl\/images\/badania\/Profil%20Absolwenta\/Program_Od_przyjemno%C5%9Bci_czytania_do_zmiany_programowej_w_szko%C5%82ach.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PROGRAM<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Event format and registration<\/h4>\n<p>The meeting will be held online on the ZOOM platform, and information with a link to the event will be sent to the indicated email address the day before the event.<br \/>in the application form.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfPCjfthY1Ds87xSLbJTCivQkTrl2L_1JxSOKJ6xJBtfDU0wg\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>APPLICATION FORM\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Applications for the seminar are accepted until November 7, 2024, 12:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The webinar will be recorded and made available on the Educational Research Institute&#039;s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n<h4>Speakers<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Maria Deskur\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 publisher, expert in popularizing reading. Graduate of the Jagiellonian University, the Sorbonne and the Universit\u00e9 Lumi\u00e8re in Lyon. Co-founder of the Muchomor publishing house, co-creator of the &#039;Basia&#039; and &#039;I Read Myself&#039; series, long-time managing director of Ksi\u0105\u017cek Egmontu, co-founder and president of the Powszechnego Czytania Foundation. Winner of the Zwyrta\u0142a 2019 competition for the best idea for promoting reading for the campaign &quot;A prescription book. A recipe for success&quot;, author of the guide to popularizing reading &quot;The Superpower of books&quot;. Head of the S\u0142owne publishing house and Kolekcji at Burda Media Polska. Privately \u2013 mother of four children, cyclist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allison David<\/strong>\u00a0is the Director of Consumer Research at Farshore. Farshore publishes child-friendly books for all ages, including picture books and fiction, award-winning non-fiction such as Red Shed, bestselling YA reads such as Electric Monkey, and engaging books about games, TV and film for adults and the whole family published by Expanse. Farshore is home to some of the UK\u2019s leading authors and illustrators, including Michael Morpurgo, Holly Jackson, Lemony Snicket, Julia Donaldson, Laura Ellen Anderson, Tahereh Mafi and BB Alston; our favourites including Winnie the Pooh, Mr. Men, Little Miss and Tintin; and the hottest brands in popular culture including Minecraft, Paw Patrol and Pok\u00e9mon. Alison has worked with research as a creator, analyst and end user. Her research programme at Farshore explores what it takes to inspire children to read. Her groundbreaking research includes Print Matters, Print Matters More, The Reading Magic Project, Stories and Choices, The Lockdown Reading Club, Dads Reading and Storytime in School. She is the author of Help Your Child Love Reading, which draws on both her research and her experiences as a mother.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monika Pochanke-Smith<\/strong>\u00a0is a primary school teacher at the American School in Warsaw. She graduated from the Faculty of Education at the University of Warsaw and the Faculty of Special Education at Queens College in New York. For many years she studied at the Faculty of Education at Columbia College in New York and also took part in numerous courses and seminars on early childhood education and teaching integrated reading and writing. Monika Smith is a lecturer at the Faculty of Education at the University of Warsaw, where she teaches Children&#039;s Literature at the postgraduate studies for English teachers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Joanna Dobkowska<\/strong>, Polish philologist, pedagogue, cultural studies expert, doctor of humanities in the field of linguistics. Researcher at the Department of Early Education and Teacher Training at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Warsaw, teacher and methodologist in primary school. Member of research teams in Polish and international research projects. Author of teaching programs, scientific and methodological publications. Expert of the Ministry of National Education in the field of Polish language. Member of the Didactic Team of the Council for the Polish Language at the Polish Academy of Sciences. Scientifically deals with the development of communicative competence, as well as intercultural education and bilingualism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Kinga Bialek<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Polish and Hebraist, associated with work in the school since 2007. Since 2015, she has been working at the PAFW and UW School of Education as a Polish literature and language teacher and tutor. Researcher of students&#039; and pupils&#039; competences, especially in the area of reading comprehension. She is interested in everything related to modern, effective and valuable Polish language didactics, especially developing reading competences. She is involved in projects related to improving the quality of teacher education. Author of the book &quot;Reading argumentative texts in school. Theory and practice&quot;.
